SleuthCity Legal

Prize Draw Rules

Effective September 1, 2026

These Official Prize Rules ("Rules") apply whenever SleuthCity offers a prize in connection with a SleuthCity case.

NO PURCHASE IS REQUIRED TO PLAY SLEUTHCITY OR TO EARN ENTRIES THROUGH THE CORE GAME.

A prize is not necessarily offered with every SleuthCity case.

1. Sponsor

The prize promotion is administered by SleuthCity, operated as a sole proprietorship based in Alberta, Canada ("SleuthCity" or the "Sponsor").

Questions may be directed to:

dispatch@sleuthcity.ca

2. Eligibility

Unless a particular prize promotion expressly states otherwise, a SleuthCity prize draw is open to eligible registered SleuthCity players who participate in the applicable case.

Where legal or practical restrictions apply to a particular prize—including geographic, age, delivery or other restrictions—those restrictions will be disclosed with the applicable prize.

Employees, contractors or other persons directly involved in administering a particular draw may be excluded where necessary to protect the integrity of the promotion.

SleuthCity may require a minor selected as a potential winner to have a parent or legal guardian accept or claim a prize on the minor's behalf where appropriate or required by law.

3. Prize-Bearing Cases

Not every SleuthCity case includes a prize.

When a prize is available, SleuthCity will identify the prize through the game, website or associated promotional materials.

Prize information will include applicable information concerning the number and approximate value of prizes and any material restrictions.

Canadian promotional-contest rules require adequate and fair disclosure of the number and approximate value of prizes, applicable allocation areas and known facts that materially affect chances of winning.

Unless otherwise disclosed, there will be one prize associated with a prize-bearing case.

4. Promotion Period

Unless otherwise stated, entries associated with a SleuthCity case may be earned from the time that case opens until the case closes.

The closing date/time displayed for the applicable case determines when entry accumulation ends.

MP earned after the applicable promotion period, if any, will not count toward that draw.

5. How Entries Are Earned

Unless otherwise stated for a particular promotion:

1 eligible Case MP = 1 entry into the prize draw for that case.

Case MP may be earned through eligible activities designated within SleuthCity, which may include:

  • unlocking Evidence Lockers;
  • completing an investigation;
  • submitting a correct solve;
  • streak or referral activities;
  • Local Support Bonuses; and
  • other activities expressly identified as awarding Case MP.

The amount of MP available for particular activities may vary.

Lifetime MP from previous cases does not automatically become entries into a new case's prize draw.

Only eligible Case MP associated with the applicable case counts toward that case's draw.

6. Purchases and Local Support Bonuses

A purchase is not required to play SleuthCity, complete an investigation or earn entries through the core game.

Players can earn Case MP—and therefore prize entries—through free gameplay.

Participating businesses may also offer an optional Local Support Bonus under which a qualifying purchase can result in additional Case MP. Because Case MP corresponds to prize entries, claiming such a bonus may increase the player's number of entries.

A Local Support Bonus is not required to complete the investigation.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • a Local Support Bonus may be claimed once per participating business per player;
  • the MP value may vary;
  • a valid qualifying purchase is required to claim a purchase-based bonus; and
  • fraudulent or duplicate claims may be cancelled.

7. Odds of Winning

The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries accumulated by all eligible players in the applicable draw.

Because Case MP determines entries, players with more eligible Case MP will have more entries and therefore a greater chance of being randomly selected.

8. Winner Selection

After the applicable case closes, one potential winner will be randomly selected from all eligible entries unless a different number of winners is disclosed for the applicable promotion.

The random selection will occur within a reasonable period after the case closes.

The selected player is a potential winner until eligibility and compliance with these Rules have been verified.

9. Winner Notification

SleuthCity will attempt to contact the potential winner using the email address associated with the player's account.

The potential winner will generally have seven (7) days from the time notification is sent to respond and provide any information reasonably required to verify eligibility and deliver the prize.

If the potential winner:

  • does not respond within the required period;
  • cannot be contacted;
  • is ineligible;
  • declines the prize; or
  • is disqualified under these Rules,

SleuthCity may randomly select another potential winner from the remaining eligible entries.

10. Prize Conditions

Prizes must be accepted as awarded except where SleuthCity permits otherwise.

Prizes:

  • are not transferable unless SleuthCity permits;
  • have no cash value except where the prize itself is cash;
  • cannot necessarily be substituted at the winner's request; and
  • may be subject to third-party terms or restrictions.

If an advertised prize becomes unavailable for reasons outside SleuthCity's reasonable control, SleuthCity may substitute a prize of reasonably comparable value where permitted by law.

The winner is responsible for costs or expenses associated with accepting or using a prize that are not expressly stated as included.

11. Publicity

SleuthCity may ask a winner for permission to announce their Detective Name publicly.

Unless expressly required as a condition disclosed for a particular promotion, SleuthCity will not publish a winner's real name solely because they won without obtaining appropriate permission or having another lawful basis to do so.

12. Fair Play and Disqualification

SleuthCity may disqualify entries or players reasonably determined to have resulted from:

  • fake or duplicate accounts;
  • unauthorized QR sharing;
  • falsified purchases;
  • manipulated scans;
  • automated activity;
  • exploitation of technical errors;
  • tampering with MP;
  • referral abuse;
  • interference with the draw;
  • violation of the Terms of Use; or
  • other fraudulent or unfair conduct.

MP obtained through prohibited conduct may be removed before the draw.

13. Technical Problems

If a technical problem, outage, data error, security incident or other circumstance compromises the integrity or proper administration of a prize promotion, SleuthCity may take reasonable steps to correct the problem.

Where necessary, this may include adjusting invalid entries, extending a deadline, suspending a draw or modifying the method of administration, subject to applicable law and the principle of treating participants fairly.

14. Changes or Cancellation

SleuthCity may modify, suspend or cancel a prize promotion where circumstances outside its reasonable control make the promotion impossible, unsafe, unfair or impractical to administer as intended, subject to applicable law.

SleuthCity will not arbitrarily cancel a promotion after players have participated merely to avoid awarding an advertised prize.

15. Privacy

Personal information collected in connection with a prize draw will be handled in accordance with the SleuthCity Privacy Policy and may be used to administer the draw, verify eligibility, contact potential winners and deliver prizes.

16. General

Participation in a SleuthCity prize draw constitutes acceptance of these Rules.

If there is a conflict between these general Rules and specific terms clearly disclosed for a particular prize-bearing case, the specific terms apply to that prize to the extent of the conflict.

Prize distribution will not be unduly delayed, and winners will be selected randomly as described in these Rules, consistent with the promotional-contest requirements of Canada's Competition Act.

17. Governing Law

These Rules are governed by the laws of Alberta and applicable federal laws of Canada, subject to any mandatory laws applicable to a participant or particular promotion.
